ABOUT DEREK BILLINGS ART & DESIGN
Welcome to my artistic journey, the vibrant spirit of BEACH LIFE AND GRAPHIC DESIGN. With over 20 years of experience in creating logos and identity designs, I now channel my into painting. Inspired by stunning colors of the beach and the lively atmosphere of my beach town, I transform white birch or exotic hardwoods into abstract representations of beach life. My unique approach combines dramatic black and white photography with bold colors, capturing the essence and emotion of coastal living.
As proud stay-at-home dad of twins and a dedicated husband of 22 years, I've found joy in both family life and my passion for art here in Manhattan Beach. My artwork has been showcased at various local venues such as CULTURE BREWING CO. in Encinitas and Manhattan Beach, the HOMETOWN FAIR, and MANHATTAN BEACH CULTURAL ARTS CENTER.
You can also see my art at HUDSON HOUSE restaurant in Redondo Beach, and HOOK AND PLOW in Manhattan Beach. I've done numerous Graphic Design projects for Pennekamp Elementary, MBMS, and Mira Costa High School, as well as many local youth sports teams. I continue to donate artwork whenever I can to help local fundraising. And I've had many private commissions with many local residents.
I love to travel and share thrilling adventures with my family, from scuba diving and skiing to wake surfing and exploring ancient ruins. We also seek out wildlife experiences to see animals in their natural habitat. Whether relaxing at a Tiki Bar in my favorite Hawaiian shirt or sipping a refreshing Mai Tai, I find endless inspiration in every corner of the world.
